Photographer’s Note
It has been a long time since I last uploaded photos to TE.I join my brother for the first time to Sepang Formula 1 Circuit today to shoot the F1 testing. This is also my first time taking panning shots and I had a real fun.
I was advised to take the shot around 1/400, it was easy enough to take a clear shot of the car. I got ambitious later on and try much slower speed. Honestly it was really difficult to get a clean panning shot at 1/100 or lower. I set my 300D to burst mode and will start snapping after following the car for about 1-2 seconds. Most of my shots were blur, took more than 400 photos and probably around 5% of it are acceptable.
This one is my favorite. It was not the best in terms of technicality (I added a bit of USM on photoshop) but just love the colors in the background.

Hi Raymond,
It is not easy to get this panning effect. I am there to catch some picture during the testing as well and have a set of it in my profile. I did not get the panning effect like you have on this photo here rather get a head on photo more. I lost a lot of picture as well on slow shutter speed but manage to get some on the sharp corners that slow the cars down. Good one Raymond.
