Photographer’s Note

I visited Hannover for a International Fair CEBIT 2007. A lot of work but in the same time a lot of impressions

Still, Hannover was much more than a surprise for me. It was a culture shock indeed for someone who grew up in the city of Chisinau, Moldova. When March breeze wind drives all people to warmer climes, here I was, trying desperately to mix ‘work’ with pleasure as well as I could. For a third timer in a German land, attending the fair. The last thing you want, is to waste your time on, especially when you know it is back to the office grind five days later.

When the time came to walk around and see some new places, take some pictures, I was really exited.

And then there is the thoughtful Red Thread, a 4,200 metre red line painted through the city centre. If you have two to three hours with you, and don’t mind walking, follow it and you’d cover about 40 ‘big’ sites in the city without any help.

This was one of those splendid places.
Rathaus or Town Hall. It is one of the most important and beautiful buildings of the city.

Beautifully located next to a huge lake, don’t miss out on a ride on its unique oblique lift that takes you to the top of the dome. And that’s not all about this Town Hall. Built on marshy land, the architects of the building rammed 6,026 beech piles into the earth to support this huge structure. Added to this beautiful view is the 200-kg statue of an archer, aiming his bow right at the centre of the Rathaus.
