[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Checking through my collection of photos from last year I came across this farm corn setting in Agassiz. Just before harvest this is the view in the Fraser Valley. For many homes all you can see is upper half of the home.
I was not sure about the idea of allowing the corn field to cut through the middle of the frame. The thought came to be about breaking photo composition rules to emphasis the corn in this manner. Whether you agree or not on this kind of capture I hope you like it. Some of these stalks can grow up to 12 feet tall. The blackberry bushes in the foreground help fill the lower section of the frame. Enjoy

It's wonderful, Paul. I love the way the foreground is blurred and then sharpens in the back. It has the warm fall light and the colors are beautiful. Great contrast and detail, too. Just super!! Best wishes,
Shelly

Hi Paul. It's good to see that you found an old picture you could post. I assume you're still without camera. You need to buy the new EOS-1D Mark III that has 10 megapixels and 10fps! ;) That would be awesome. Nevertheless you've got a pleasant warm light working some magic here. tfs Paul.

Hi Paul,
Was thinking of you today and waiting for your next post - and what a beauty it is! You did an amazing job of capturing the rural harvest scene including the blackberry bushes no less. Great color and clarity - I love it. Thanks for sharing. Gerald

The composition works fine, Paul - as they say, rules are meant to be broken! Technically very good, and I like the warm light. Cheers . . . David

Hi Paul,
Beautiful snap.Low POV and gorgeous colours has made the difference here.Fine details and excellent light.

Hello Paul -

What I really like about this image is the light. It is so warm it makes the corn tassels stand out on top of the stalks. The colorful buildings atop the corn field add dimension to the image. But, I fell the OOF blackberry bushes in the foreground a bit distracting - maybe a tighter crop on the bottom edge. The grassy area then is smaller and is still an effective foreground. As always a well crafted image. Well done!

Thank you for sharing.

John

Interesting shot! The houses appearing to pop out of the corn is a really unsual view, and teh lighting is good too. It's good to see that you haven't totally forgotten about TE Paul!

Hey Paul... I really like this one.
The blackberry bushes in the foreground REALLY add to this shot in my opinion. The setting sun casting a warm glow over everything.
The stalks of corn reming me of so many Hollywood movies- interestingly most scenes involving corn patches have an ominous tone to them- don't they? 'Signs'.. haha

Nice sharpness and good colors Paul.
