The Gilbert River, south of Quebec city, at St-Simon-les-mines. The biggest gold nugget ever found in the Quebec province is coming from this river, the McDonald nugget weight 1.28 kilograms.
About 4 tons of the precious metal been recorvered in placers from about 1850 to today.
