Windy Connemara Photo

Photographer’s Note

Connemara is located on the wind swept West coast of Ireland, in county Galway. This picture was taken on the way from Leenan to Kylemore abbey. It was extremely windy this day, and it looks like it's pretty common when you see this poor tree.

I tried a new style of frame, and you will find another version in the workshop with some white stripes and a title on it. I prefer this one, as it enhances the desolated (but beautiful) nature in Connemara. I also used colour balance as well as changed light, and contrast with Photoshop. For worshop enthusiasts who would like to give me a few tips on how to improve my postprocessing skills, I also include the original version in the workshop...

Can you hear the wind blow on it? ;o)

A ggod POV and composition, the black and white works well. The tree bent away from the wind expresses the nature of this part of the world. Regards, Jean

Really good "stormy" picture. The tree captures the rought environment in that region quite well and sepia works nicely here too.

Hi Clement, it is impossible not to hear the wind blowing and I'm almost being blown away with the image. I'm not quite sure what improvement your PP skills need. It looks really very good. Not even the lack of complete sharpness is being a problem here. Where is the workshop image?

Great subject for a B&W shot - desolate & windswept, you've captured the atmosphere of the place perfectly.

Salut Clément! vraiment une belle composition... Effectivement l'utilisation du sepia transcende la photo. Intéressant aussi le découpage en 5 bandes clair/foncé (lac/1ere chaîne de montagne/2ème chaîne de montagne/ciel 1/ciel2). ciao
