Photographer’s Note

There are place in Shanghai where the time stand still. Old neighborhood where people live like they do many year ago. Not many such place left but there are a few. This photograph was taken in the old city of Shanghai. This lady sell her vegetable on the street and probably make little money in one day. The divide between rich and poor people in Shanghai can be seen in many place.

Good shot Rosie. I think the only real thing you could do to improve this is to take the shot at a different time of day. This looks as though it was taken pretty much midday, and the lighting is very strong and a little hard. Earlier or later in the day and the light would be softer, so you wouldn't have the bright spots reflecting off the vegetables. I see you are shooting with a G3 now, how did that happen? ;)

Great daily life shot! I agree with Darren, I would choose a different time to take the photo. Also, the lady is too centered, so move a bit to the right (or crop the left part) would make the photo nicer, I think, because the lady would then be off-centered. Nice shot, anyway!

The light is a bit harsh here, but otherwise this is a good photo. I like the centered composition, as well as the expression on the woman's face. Good effort!

hi Rosie..wellcome to TE first, although you have posted several good pictures already :)
I think this is an interesting picture..I am not used to seeing vegetable sellers in crisp white jackets, grey trousers..also the surrounding looks very clean..vegetables, baskets etc..I liked this contrast which is rare in pictures from east (I mean east as anywhere east of Europe , incl Trkey)..thanks :)
