Photographer’s Note
This small, functioning church is perched on the shores of Lake Tekapo on the South Island of New Zealand. It dates back to 1935.
Lupins flourish on the South Island. As you can imagine, the fields of purple and pink flowers were spectacular - and irresistible to a budding photographer!
This photograph was taken on film with a point-and-shoot camera. I can't remember if the shoreline was slanted. Rotating the picture made the lupins crooked and the church began to lean. Perhaps some distortion of the lens?
Picture was sharpened, and brightness and contrast were adjusted. No change to colour.
Would appreciate any suggestions...

Welcome to TE Julia. I was surprised to see someone who owns a digital rebel posting a first photo taken with a point and shoot film camera!!
I think you should resize the next photos you'll be posting. This one is rather small and it is therefore difficult to see the details and write an objective critique.
The contrast of colors seems interesting and I like the dark edges on the bottom (perhaps coming from the distorsion if you didn't burn them), which help me to focus on the field leading to the small church. The composition seems fine with the church judisciously off center.

This is beautiful scene but I'd to see more details. You should upload a larger size of this one. (up to 800px.) Welcome to TE.
Out of Pts, will update.

I think it is a good picture, but it's too small to see properly. It would be good to see a 800 pixel wide version.

Welcome to TE julia. Nice photograph although as per the others, it's a shame it's so small. None the less it looks very beautiful. Good shot!

Welcome to TE, Julia.
I had trouble, as a new member of TE, finding out how to easily size pics for the site. A couple of congenial Canadian members sent me good advice, so I shall pass this on to you in a day or two.
Incidentally, I am a major fan of lupins - captured so dramatically in this photo. Interestingly, here in Canada they grow in the worst of soils and the worst of conditions - thriving often along gravelly, dry roadsides.
