Photographer’s Note
This is the Palace Square in front of Hermitage or "Winter Palace". To the left you see a General Staff building with the Alexander's Column signifying the victory in Napoleonic wars. The golden cupola in the distance is the Isaac's Cathedral, probably the most beautiful cathedral in the world. Then to the right is the Admiralty building. This was the place where the ships were build during the reign of Emperor Peter the Great. And to the right you have the Winter Palace! A better picture of which is located here : http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/photo581663.htm
