Photographer’s Note
The Turnagain arm is one of the only places in the world where the bore tide can be seen daily. A sizable bore tide,such as this one, is a wave created by a high positive tide and a low negative tide. The birds follow the tide in because it carries holligan and other fish on which they feed. I did not even see the bald eagle until I viewed the photo at home on the screen! Lucky shot! Also, surfers and kyakers can be seen enjoying the single wave from the pull outs along the Seward Hwy near Bird Point. Timing is key because you only get one chance to ride this wave!
