Photographer’s Note

I thought how to portray the gondolas subject of Venice and at the end of the day I found those gondoliers playing cards in their "Privato" place in the harbour.

bonjour jerzy, i like this hat on the table.. it s waiting the head.. good composition of daily life italian, not usual to see Venice like it..

How to portrayu gondolas...best not to show them:) That might sound a bit strange but they are so overdone...and really, micy more interesting are the guys driving them. Im liking your Venice shots so far, a bit different, even the San Marco shot doesnt show the church:)

Gondolas? Where are them? :) Love that lonely hat on the right. It's a simple detail, but so crucial here. The exposure is great with this cold blue toning emerging from the frame. He's got something in his eye. Probably it came from your click! :) Great moment.

Hi Jerzy - the hats are the key here. Not only the one on the right, also the one on the upper left corner and the one on the gondolier. Beautiful light too, and good eye to capture this "private" daily life scene, so different from the "regular" Venice shots, congratulations and TFS! Regards, Daniel

Witaj Jerzy,
ciekawy i w sumie raczej nietypowy obrazek z Wenecji. Uwage przyciaga piekne swiatlo, kompozycja i ... kapelusze, rozmieszczone w roznych miejscach ;o) Zastanawiam sie nad kadrem, ale chyba rzeczywiscie wydaje sie optymalny.
Taka Wenecja mi sie podoba, widac tutaj prawdziwe zycie, a nie to co zwykle serwuje sie turystom...

the image is very with the gondoliers in a relax moment....waiting for work..
I like a lot the Venice symbol here (the hat....) and the background at dusk..

No coz tu napisac...inni pisza "lovely", "ciekawa scenka", "unusual POV" itd, super duper.

Mnie sie to nie podoba.

Dlaczego ?

No czy tam naprawde tak bylo nudno ?
Ci faceci tak nie wiadomo co tu robia, wcale nie widac, ze graja w karty.
Kadr tez mi sie niezbyt podoba, bo nieciekawie....pomimo ladnego nieba.
Chyba jestem tu wyjatkiem...?

Pozdrawiam, czekajac na cos mocniejszego.

Wonderfull capture: Good pov and nice colors. A typical wintery scene of Venice. Not too much tourists; therefore some time for themselves.

A lovely 'off duty' candid shot J - i like your compositional choices here...those three hats are so nicely placed..the expression of the guy rubbing his eye is great....and just that hint of the classic buildings of Venice behind.

Z wielka ciekawoscia patrze na Twoja wenecka serie Jurku, nie to zebym tam nigdy nie byla.. i owszem.. w dodatku na poczatku maja znowu bede i znow przez tydzien bede kilka razy dziennie gubic droge do domu starajac sie na wszelkie sposoby zapamietac przy ktorym mostku musze skrecic w prawo.. :-)
Ale milo ogladac ta Twoja Wenecje bo bardzo niestereotypowa.. scenaografia znana, ale sfotografowane sceny oddalaja nas od pocztowkowosci a zblizaja do znanej z Twojej galerii - rodzajowosci..

czuje jak od laguny wieje wiatr i ide do kawiarni na capuccino.. musze tylko zdazyc przed 12 w poludnie bo pozniej juz nie wypada :-)
