Tibetans are lighting yak-butter lamps for offering at Bodhnath stupa in Bodhnath..

Bodhnath, a small village located on the eastern side of Katmandu is the religious centre for Nepal's Tibetan exile..you can always see maroon-robed Tibetan monks, "gompa" (Tibetan monasteries) roofs, incenses and yak butters.. this is one of the few places in the world where Tibetan culture is accessible, vibrant and unfettered..

Wow! Evren, the impact of this hardly felt before I see the big picutre. I am breathless, in awe, at the grand classical view here, light and darkness in the sky, the medieval wall, the gently lighted faces and the simple, yes profoundly simple placement of the figures in this composition. Bravo. A favorite.

Fabulous image. The subtle color, the bright candle-lit faces, the texture and detail of the shadows make this a technically excellent image. The story, the people, the ritual, make this a beautiful record of belief.
