Photographer’s Note
Big Sur, June 2006 - Summer mornings are usually foggy and cool, but by afternoon the fog lifts and the air warms. It's a good idea to bring both warm and cold weather clothing when packing.
Big Sur is located along Scenic Highway One along the central coast of California (150 miles south of San Francisco and 300 miles north of Los Angeles). It was historically known as "El Sur Grande," which means "The Big South." Henry Miller called Big Sur "The face of the earth as the Creator intended it to look," others have called it "The greatest meeting of land and sea."
The biggest issue with this photo is that a tripod was not used. To compensate for the lack of sharpness, the "Sharpen More" Filter was used, in addition to "Auto Levels" and "Contrast +5."

Hello Scott
A really beautiful landscape. Seing this type of landscape makes me think of a forgotten lost world, and the addition of the fog only helps underline that statement.
The overall photo quality is good, but not perfect.
I feel that the colour seems a bit too bright and we don't get the full impression.
Also I feel the photo looks grainy, but this might just be due to the bright sunlight and the texture in the hillsides.
Thank you for sharing.

Hi Scott,
I think that you did a pretty good job of compensating for the possible lack of sharpness. I know from experience that this can be a windy part of the world ;)
It's always a good approach to capture the fog, and in the summer it's a pretty good bet that there will be some. The only 'negative' that I'd have is that you can get much better photos in the early morning or later in the afternoon. But that assumes that you have control over the timing of your visit, which is often a luxury...
