[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Here is a different view of 'The Tor' (more history from 'cruize')

This wee 'island' gives the locality it's name 'Torbay' though the actual beach is usually known by it's maori name 'Waiake'.
I have been fortunate enough to grow up at this beach, spending my childhood summers swimming here, later sailing dinghy's and walking the dog. Now we regularly meet for evening BBQs or fish and chips :-)

In this photo, the setting sun was catching the Tor while the rest of the land was already in the shadow of the land. The trees framing the picture are standard pine trees.
We have a very similar painting haning in our kitchen, done for us by an uncle.

ENJOY :-)

Hi Charlotte,

Nice photo, I love the yellow glow on Tor, the rest of the photo seems cold, a real contrast between the two.

nice one!

so unique composition this is.
'The Tor' shines in the light of golden sun, and it is viewed between the opening of black trees.this contrast is interesting.
thank you

Hi Charlotte. Welcome to TE. Great first photo. I like the natural framing of the pines and the use of light. Nice work and thanks for sharing.

:-)

Hi Charlotte,
First of all, welcome to TE.
Reading from your note, you are very lucky to have the priveledge of growing up in this beautiful place.
Lovely framing of the island... well composed. Excellent work! tfs
Cheers,
Renier

Wow, great image, I almost thought the island was on fire from the thumbnail, nice work!

Hi Charlotte, we lived here for 20 years before moving 5kms south to Murrays Bay. My husband and boys all sailed here - in Paper Tigers, Starlings, Flying Ants, P-Class and Optis - from 1972 - 1987. Maybe you sailed with some of my boys.
The Tor is always so picturesque and I like how you have framed it between the pine trees. Some of these trees blew down in a bad storm we had in March this year. Not sure if these trees were involved, but Waiake did lose a couple.
We've also got a painting of Torbay and the Tor here at home too.
Cheers
Janice

Hallo Charlotte!

Honto-ni ii shashin da!:)This picture stirs up my curiosity about what is next to the trees on the left and right side:) Good framing! And I am looking forward for more your pictures of Waiake.

Charlotte, nice framing and contrasting. photo is a little blurry - if you run it through a sharpening filter it might come good.
