Photographer’s Note
Had my girlfriend pose for this one (so please do not tell her that I labeled the pic under the category 'architecture' ;).
The idea is of course to contrast the little figure with the big pillars in front of the Venice church. I croppped it as to situate her in the lower right corner of the frame. Worked quite hard to get an interesting grey-scale. Semi-happy about it.

I think it is an excellent shot and one which is most interesting. The sound is quiet, you can even hear the rock dove relaxing. By the look of things your gf is beautiful! Great blend between the dark lower clothes and the light top, a continuation of the post shadows. I most of all like the way your shot leads up fron the steps into the huge building, even though that part we can't really see.
Nice one! Be happy :) casper

hi mikkel
it certainly presents a good scale. i would have liked to have seen a more natural pose from your "model" though. like if she were walking through, or looking up, tourist style, instead of leaning on the column. but good use of light and shadow. well done

This is truly a very powerful size impression.
Naturally it is the size of these pillars that impress me the most, but the photo also has a good composition and it makes sure that we notice the girl straight away and we get the immence impression of size.
B&W works great for this photo, and I must admit that at first I got the impression that this was a nighttime photo with the pillars being illuminated by flood lights or something.
Great job and thank you for sharing.
