Photographer’s Note
Red Umbrella
This is a detail of a big red japanese umbrella, used in ceremonies, in this case a tea ceremony.
The owners (a group of japanese guys living here in Brazil) told me that there is only 3 or four like that in Brazil.
Despite the umbrella size, it is a very delicate tool, made of wood and paper. I helped the guys to close it after the ceremony and I could see how delicate it was.
I'm posting a 'tourist like picture' as a workshop just for a reference about the size of the umbrella.
Here is a twin found in Japan.

Hello Jaed
Tourist like? Maybe, but I still feel this is a great photo. Ok so it doesn't really show anything geographical, but it has a very "mysterious look to it. Honestly, when I saw the thumb I thought this was some bright coloured stairs in a big building like an opera or something.
The composition looks very good, target is placed nicely off center and really gives us a great overall impression of this impressive umbrella.
Thank you for sharing.

Show de bola!
Abração.

Hi Jaed
A fine graphics you present here - I like the mix of lines and colours - a good and artistic way to present this.
Thanks for ws-portrait as well.

Hi Jaed, a very well spotted pattern, so colorful and interesting, and very rich with shapes and lines. I would try to crop the umbrella's base and keep only the patterns in the frame. A very nice shot.

Bonjour, cher Jaed,
J'aime beaucoup ce gros plan sur cette ombrelle qui exprime toute la délicatesse de l'Asie. Les couleurs sont superbes, les détails parfaitement mis en relief.
Une photo originale et très bien présentée.
Amitiés.

Very creative shot of the umbrella detail, making a graphic abstract image. It would look great enlarged on a wall. Thanks for the "tourist" photo in the WS. It served its purpose just as you hoped.
