The Rice Porter Photo

Photographer’s Note

I caught this picture of a porter, unloading sacks of rice in Chinatown. The porters tie a rice sack around their heads to keep the sun off and to keep the dust out of the hair and clothes. It is hard rough work, but this guy looks happy. I was with Trekearth buddy when I took this, wandering down the little backstreets. I can't remember if it was Herve or Francis, we both took a couple of shots of him before he noticed us. It may have been the day that we tried to eat chickens feet; not a good idea!

Hi Kevin, The expression on his face is very natural and appealing. Just a shame that it isn't a little sharper. Perhaps there was a bit of movement? (I'm with you on the chickens feet - yuk) cheers, Steve

ha ha...it' s funny shot.he looked happy.it makes me think of the wording "put the right man in the right job" but this shot should to be "put the rice man in the rice job"!!!

good portrait in black background.sometime,he looks like muslim lady....

Hi Kevin!
I come back on this nicely framed gentleman! A typical hosnest worker, poor in pocket, but rich in heart...His expression looks as if he was going to say some joke to a colleague... I like the way he is standing out on a black BG...
Sharpness could be stronger, but content is important to me...
