Photographer’s Note
Sintra's Mountain, Adro Nunes's area, August 2006. After a few hot days the usual happened, haze over the mountain, so I figured that it should be some fog in this area. I wasn't wrong and since I was awaiting for this opportunity for some time I took my chance. The mood here seemed to be taken from a suspence movie wich allowed me to take some shots with a very mystical and emotional mood. This tree is definitly the lord of the forest. Unfortunately I had to cut a bit the right branch because there was a sign that I didn't want to see...

Hi Joao,
The picture truly deserves its title, the atmosphere is full of suspense, and the tree(s) majestic. Too bad the right branch of the tree is not fully in the picture, you should not treat a Lord like that ;)
Great shot anyway, thanks for sharing!

Quite otherworldly...looks like a creature's hands rising from beneath the ground...the hazy sunlight really reflects its mysticism and suspenseful aura

great tree, great atmosphere created by the fog. I dont mind the crop at all. I think it suits the compo very well.
If you should alter something it ought to be the frame. I dont think it fits the mystique of the photo.

great atmosphere. the dull colours and fog create a scene that could be from any scary movie. a haunting pov too, with the tree looming over our heads ominously. well done!

I love the forests around Sintra. They are so beautiful. You are absolutely correct about the mood of this photo. It's very mystical, almost scary looking.

Hi Joao,
I'm now seeing this one after going to your site and over your profile. I am wondering, how did you get that wonderful light?? Is that thanks to Velvia film?? It is just amazing!
Greetings, Dennis
