Photographer’s Note
This another view from Bongeumsan Temple.
Once known as Gyeonseongsa Temple, Bongeunsa Temple is located to the north of COEX building, and was constructed in the 10th year of Shilla King Weongseong’s reign (794). In 1498, Queen Jeonghyeon refurbished Gyeonseongsa Temple at the east of King Seongjong’s royal mausoleum and renamed the temple as Bongeunsa. Originally located near the royal maulsoleum (1km southwest), the temple was transferred to its current location during Joseon King Myeongjong’s reign. 3,479 Buddhist scriptures of 13 types, including the works of Kim Jeong-hee, are stored here. The Buddhist ceremony called Jeongdaebulsa, is held every September 9th of the lunar calendar, where monks march carrying the scriptures on their heads and recite the Beopseongge (Buddhist rites).

Hi Ben,
So I see you've been taking over the role of "official TE lantern shooter" from Rafal who got busy in shooting babies lately ;-)
I like here the multitude that gets busier as the eye ventures farther, plus the diversity of joyful colors, these lanterns are definitely a very attractive subject !
have a nice day,

Well, what can I say?
This has a tremendous impact, and I like the way you brought order to this chaotic image, with your careful framing of the rows of lanterns at the front.
The colours are great, and I think they would have had even more impact if you had under-exposed slightly to deepen the colours.
This is a great shot though Ben, well done.
Cheers,
Ben

there's a sony ad where all these brightly coloured balls bounce down a hill. thousands upon thousands of small colour raining down. this shot reminds me of that. apart from the colours of course, i like the repetition and perspective as the lanterns close in on each other in the distance. looks like breaking your leg has given you time to find some gems!

Hi Benjamin,
another fine shot from your already impressive gallery, the deeper I delve the more I find. Your clever framing of these lanterns has brought a bit of discipline to the composition. I like the way they fall back in greater numbers, a bit like an army on the march. Lovely colours, though there appears to be only four, looks more somehow! Another superb capture, well done.

Hello Benjamin,
There is superb perspective in this shot, the finite sizes of the lanterns converging into microscopic spheres and vanishing. Very original and well composed shot, exquisitely exposed. Trained in matematics and art (I am a theoretical physicist), I have done some work in "projective geometry," which is one of the areas that mathematics and art intersect. I love this shot,

THis is my favorite time of year in Korea. I am impressed that you broke the common style of shooting the lanterns a night and it seems that you have focussed on the color and composition a lot. This makes for a great shot and it stands out a lot. The colors in particular are wonderful!
