It was a very early misty morning in Washington state. I loaded my tripod and equipment into the car at three a.m. and left my hotel in the dark. I pulled up to the drive-through window of a tiny roadside coffee vendor and ordered a double-espresso for the road. Steaming coffee in hand, I just started wandering the back roads of the Puget Sound. The place was deserted. No one was out. I think one lonely school bus rumbled past. As the morning slowly began to dawn, I rounded a bend in the road and caught sight of this quiet scene. I backed the car and parked on the side of the road to unload my tripod and begin shooting in the mist. This was Velvia 50 on a very slow exposure.
