Photographer’s Note
William Randolph Hearst liked the architecture and perhaps the history in Europe so much he wanted to build a castle that mimic the best in Europe. The castle was donated to San Luis Obispo County. Some of the columns and other building material were from architectural remains from all over the world including Europe (Roman and Greek) and Egyptian. Interior also has many art forms from many cultures, east, west, Christian and Islamic. This shot shows part of the main part of the castle. It is such a grand scale I could not get the whole castle in the frame so I tried this angle. A wide angle lens would have been perfect for this shot. May be next time...
