Photographer’s Note

'Tokyo by Night - city full of lights...' goes one song. Well, those lyrics hold very much true when the sun sets. A myriad of billboards, signs and lights make up for a colored street scape below which the endless streams of people and move like fast rivers.

What's interesting about the signs in Tokyo is that besides being mostly vertical, their width is near standardized. This makes for very interesting patterns of light, such as those that can bee seen near the left of the photo.

In terms of the photograph itself, it was shot just outside the entrance of Shinjuku Station which holds the record for being the busiest rail station in the world in terms of number of passengers. An average of 3.47 million people pass through it every day!
