Photographer’s Note

Simla has a natural ice skating rink...the only one of its kind in India it seems. Despite global warming, deforestation and other natural phenomenon designed to defeat this activity the rink freezes over and allows the kids to skate for at least 2 months during their winter holidays.

Like the rest of India everything is thrown together...novices skate with experts...figure skaters practise their art even as ice hockey games threaten to decapitate them.. speed skaters weave through slow learners ....and no one thinks that anything is amiss.

We may not produce world class but we do certainly have a happy skating community here !!!!

Hi Vijay,
Interesting piece of information of India. Well panned shot. And looking carefully it is possible to see different approaches to skating.
How high in the mountains is this place?

Buena foto de movimiento con interesante contraste entre los vivos colores del vestuario del protagonista y el blanco del hielo.
Lo mejor de la foque el perfecto enfoque sobre el patinador en primer plano y el aspecto difuminado del fondo.

And I thought this event was defunct in Shimla!
But it is NOT, and that's is a pleasant thought, Vijay.
Seen you after ages. I also visit TE rather infrequently now. Doing just TN. These are time consuming pursuits.
Lovely shot in sports mode with those blurred figures in the BG.
