Photographer’s Note
A different view of the Good Hope. Actually it doesn’t look as bad from this angle. Turned it to B&W and added some contrast, photo filter (Sepia) and some noise.
Taken at Skippool Creek, Lancashire.

Hi Mark - an excellent result with the B&W, it gives an appropriate mood; nicely composed from the low POV, cheers :) Daniel

Hi Mark, I see you've been getting rich pickings from this location, what a fabulous place. The gloomy sky and B&W add the right mood to this one.

hms hopeless could be an installment of the biger series on "hopeless" themes, mark, which you are so good at...
i'd go for calling it series, mate,
--------
sepia is quite all right but i see a huge potential for experimenting with other monochromatic tones (like green, could be interesting too),

Hello Mark,
Another very good composition looking down the gangway and providing a contrast bewteen the wreck and the slightly more modern boat. Excellent conversion to black and white with very good tones that help emphasise the textures in the wood.

Hi Mark,
Great composition and POV! I love all the old timbers and the footbridge leading to the boat. Great choice to use sepia tones, it gives the image a timeless feel. TFS
Cheers Tina :-)

Hi Mark
I agree with Jerzy, this would make a good series. The PP works very well here, on top of a great POV. I've not been out with the camera for a while, looking for inspiration, where is this place? I like a good wreck.

Hi Mark,
textures again enhance with the post processing. Not sure about the "pink" tonality... but as I have a bad monitor at work... : )
I like the low POW and the compo.

Let me guess... HDR?
It's worked well, and there's a good level of detail throughout the tonal range.
Never mind such technical matters, your composition here is excellent. The wooden jetty and the handrail coming in from the top corner really draw the eye in, and I think without that handrail to provide balance with the boat this shot wouldn't have worked so well.
I'm not too keen on the toning though; it looks more pink than sepia, at least on this cr*ppy work monitor.
Good work Mark.
Cheers,
Ben

Hi Mark, a good capture and the b+w works well, no question. I like the strong contrat and the adding of some noise. Nicely done again. All the best, Nino.

Hello Mark,
Love this one also, a fantastic find, and your shot gives justice to it perfectly well. Very nice sepia work that fits with the title so well. I also love the addition of the new boat on the left, a fabulous juxtaposition, with some nostalgia and sadness...

Good choice with the sepia Mark and great POV looking down the jetty. I googled this place as I had no idea where it was, and found some photos of it, including this boat, being offered for sale. To be honest I didn't think they were as good as yours.
cheers, Leon.

Out of this world compo, Mark, a desolate shot that resonates and goes on resonating. Of course these old wrecks are great subjects but one still has to arrange reality, and you've done a suerb job. Sorry to have missed a bunch of your pics. I'm catching up...

HELLO Mark,
Today there was the opening of the Magnum photography exhibition in Istanbul: Famous names were present with their work.
This picture could well fit in this exhibition among the pictures I saw today.
