Photographer’s Note
Nafplio was the first capital of the modern Greek state. Three fortresses are overlooking and standing guard over the town, two on land, and one in the sea. They were built between 1711 and 1714.
On a sunny day in winter, it was nice to walk around the fortress along the sea. But suddenly the sky became dark...

Hi Cathenne, Love your capture, the contrast between the dark clouds & the light on the cliff face is very good, you have used the rule of third wonderfully getting the V of the two hills in perfect position, the people give good prospective of size, great POV & focus, kind regards Wilson, happy new year & keep posting.

Hello,
Welcome to TE and Happy New Year.
I really like the composition of your photgraph. The 2 men with the bike taking it easy in the sun with the stormy weather in the background make it an interesting photograph.
Good work!!

Bienvenue en TE, Catherine.
Congratulations for your starting post, which is gorgeous. There is much that I like in it: the masterful pov, with that lane, the men talking, the entrance of the valley and the balance between the lake and the piece of sky, the wonderful light, the excelent sharpness and colors... It's an excelent capture of that beautiful place.
Your note is very informative and that's good for us that are interested in the places of the posts and stories of them, but also to you, as they atract more atention and feedback to your photos.
I wish I had some "rate quota" left to be able to give you some points.
Keep posting and criticizing.
Salut, Jose.

Hi Catherine,
What a glorious first posting, congratulations. The lighting is superb as is the dramatic sky. The image appears like there are two seperate photos one half where the sun is shining and the other where it is dark and stormy. Wow. Happy 2007.
Cheers,
Debbie

Hi Catherine and welcome to TE.
Here you had a beautiful light for this beautiful city.
Also there is something very interesting because we don't see any of the typicals views of this ancient city.
We see the sea, the shore and, at the end, part of the famous fortress from you can dominate the city.
Nice work.

Hi there Catherine,
What a huge contrast between the dark sky in the back and the lovely warm light on the foreground. Nice to see these old man sitting there and have a talk, and you've nicely placed them off center. The road creates nice depth, also could to see two people walking in the distance, they still enjoy the weather as it was when you took the photo. Probably this changed later..because of that dark sky.
Good mood, well done.

Bonjour Catherine,

Amicalement,

everyone who visits Nafplio should find time to walk a bit along the sea around the fortress...they may not be lucky enough to run across such great light or skilful enough to compose such a balanced photo, but it will be worth their time anyway ;)
na eisai kala Katerina!

Bonjour, Catherine.
