Two bridges were built by the defunct Temiscouata Railway in the late eighties. A bridge of two sections was built on the Madawaska river near Edmunston (N.B) and is used today as a bike path.

The other bridge illustrated here was a one section bridge built on the Rivière-du-Loup river in Rivière-du-Loup, Quebec. The bridge is still in use today as a siding giving access to a scrap metal dealer, a peat moss manufacturer and a lumber mill.

At the end of the 18th century, the trains of the Temiscouata railway were running south from Rivière-du-Loup QC to Edmunston NB and then Eastward to Connor's NB. Usually there was a RPO (Railway Post Office) (mail car) in the first car of the train where clerks worked in a mobile post office. Lovely RPO's cancel were applied on the stamps affixed to the letters.

Including this bridge, the count of similar bridges posted to TE by FORJP001 is now a great 5; they are:

1- Rivière-du-Loup;
2- Edmunston;
3- Perthuis ;
4- Saint-Romuald-d'Etchemin;
5- Saint-Raymond-de-Portneuf.

Hello Jean Pierre
Excellent POV! You've chosen the right angle to capture the railway bridge.

Hi Jean Pierre,
Love the POV. Must have been cold down on the ground. The snow looks great in the foreground. I like the way the eye is taken up the track and through the bridge. Very nice.
Cheers,
Debbie

Hi Jean Pierre,
That extremely low POV is excellent! Lovely texture on ballast, sunlit snow and rusty rails. Also interesting to see one car through the bridge.
Kari

Hi Jean Pierre,
Excellent low POV. Love the way you have composed this with snowladen tracks leading us straight to that iron cast bridge.
Seasons Greetings

Un petit détail me chicotte mon cher Jean-Pierre.
Marc

Hi Jean Pierre:
Another excelent work, beutiful composition and very good lights and colours.

The sharp blue sky wich reflects in the snow; the pov that leads you deep into the landscape.
I like it all!

Bonjour Jean-Pierre

Jean-Pierre
