[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This was taken at the grand piazza in Siena.
This piazza is one of the most amazing places I've been to, with such human activity going on there that if you have a passion for photographing people you can take hundrends of photos each session.
I didn't notice these two kids at all until the very second I took this shot. This was truly a snapshot. The second I saw them I took the shot.
Luckily it took me just a second to realize they were very interesting in their pose.
What strucks me here is the conflict. There is an easily visible (to me at least) conflict between the boys' inclination to go with his sister(?) and his need to stay where he is. This conflict I feel is best shown at the hands.
Also, I felt it was best to leave this photo soft, therefore no sharpening (almost) was applied and I went for very soft B&W tones when converting to b&w.
I Hope you like it.

It is a nice, sentimental dispute you've captured here- your representation of his dissidence is a sort of 'gentle anger.'

I probably would have opted for all-out tonal contrast and grittiness to exaggerate his frustration but that would then probably be misrepresentative of this split second you have captured.
The composition is really good for a grab shot- your instincts are razor fast. Nicely done.

A beatiful photo. I have two children of similar ages to those in the picture and 'conflict' would be a word I am very familiar with! It would be hard to critique a picture taken so instinctively so I have chosen not to. I especially like the movement in the children's bodies as opposed to the increased sharpness in the arms and hands. This goes to emphasise the stale-mate between the two parties.
