Photographer’s Note
And what is Shiav's golden bull (yesterday's posting) looking at? At this part of the Bagmati riverbench. This is in front of the 'dying house'. You can see that one person is already dead (with the yellow/orange cloth) and one person is dying. To die with your feet in the holy river is the best way to die. It helps you skip fases int he proces of reincarnation. Only 15 minutes after I took this photo, I heard loud cries of a woman; the man had passed away.
Sorry for the poorer quality; cropped a bit.

Very nice documentary shot Femke.. this is well in TE spirit. I'll pass on the scanning quality. In that case, not important.Your note is also very informative..Great.

this note is striking IMO;-) thanks for sharing . Yhe documentary aspect more than offset the technical flaws of the shot; thanks for sharing! I did not know the existence of such dying houses or places...

Thats an amazing scene, live and death are both so open in India, and this scene captures this very well. A great insight into india, well done.

A lot of interesting cultural facts and a fine diagonal layout. I also like how the people are sorted in different groups. Small groups of relatives close to the dead or dying, the maniny red group on the waterline and on top this strange group of what seems to be just spectators.

Good photo documentary shot from the bridge. Even though this is in Nepal (Kathmandu), I can see how easy it would be to mistake it for India. It is a Hindu ritual, in contrast to the usual Buddhist images of Nepal.

A stunning documentary in picture and note, Femke. I am really in awe of what I am seeing and learning here. Your shot and the wide angle you took it from are a perfect vehicle to relate the details of this ritual. Great work.

Hi Femke, very good documentary shot. I think it's impressive to see a thing like this, and be witness of the grieve that people have. Besides, it's so different from what we know here! Thanks for sharing.

You came back from this journey of dream with magnificent photos. This one drew my attention, it is so different as customs. I find well saturated colours and your composition pleases me.
Vous êtes revenue de ce voyage de rêve avec des photos magnifiques. Celle-ci a attiré mon attention, c'est tellement différent comme coutumes. Je trouve les couleurs bien saturées et votre composition me plaît.

what a story, excellent. I wish the quality of the picture was a bit better - now it is not sharp enough. but compo is ok with those stairs as the diagonal line.
and this is a good TE stuff, I learned a lot looking at this picture and reading your note, thanks!

Amazing documentary of a "daily life" situation - this scenery very far from my world. You did a great job Taking this photo and sharing it with us. Thanks for the note as well, Femke.
