Photographer’s Note
Dear All,
Here is a second picture took on the road to Glacier Point. This impressive curve is just a few mile before the "official" point of view.
This is what we can call a curb with a view !!
Extract from wikipedia :
Glacier Point is a viewpoint above Yosemite Valley, in California, USA. It is located on the south wall of Yosemite Valley at an elevation of 7214 ft (2199 m), 3200 ft (975 m) above Curry Village. The point offers a superb view of Yosemite National Park, including Yosemite Falls, Half Dome, Vernal Falls, Nevada Falls, and Clouds Rest.
Glacier Point can be reached from the Valley via Glacier Point Road. Shuttle buses require approximately 1 hour to make the trip. During the summer, Glacier Point is mobbed with tourists. The road is usually open from June through October. Access from the Badger Pass Ski Area is only by ski or snowshoe when the road is closed.
Looking south from Glacier PointGlacier Point can also be reached via the Four Mile Trail, which ascends the 3200 feet (975 m) in 4.5 miles (7.2 km). This extremely steep and strenuous trail assists in solitude when the road is closed. Note, however, that the trail can be very hazardous when covered with snow or ice, so is usually closed by the Park Service from December through May. Another trail runs from Glacier Point down to the Valley, via the John Muir Trail, past Nevada and Vernal Falls. This is a 14.5 mile (23.3 km) trail.

This is a new take on a classic view. I've never seen the road included like this, and I like it a lot. It gives this place some context. I've never been to Yosemite so it's interesting to see this classic view from a different point of view.

Ryan

Bonjour Olivier,

Hello, Olivier--
This is a nice idea and i really like the inclusion of the road, but i feel like a few things could make this a little bit better. First, i like your idea of framing the composition with the trees, but it almost seems like we have two different pictures--the foreground of the trees and the road, and the background of Half Dome and the rest of Yosemite. Perhaps if you had been able to take this from a step or two to the right, you could have placed Half Dome in the open space under the tree's branch. This would have provided a geometrical tie between the foreground and background, making them a little more harmonized. Also, the horizon seems too centered, with too much empty space in the sky. Beyond that, though, i like that you were able to take a different perspective of the area. The long shadow of the tree across the road is nice, as well, and does help tie the foreground to the background a little bit.
Thanks!

Bonjour Olivier
J'aime beaucoup ton cadrage.
J'ai l'impression qu'il vaut mieux ne pas rater le virage.
Salutation

Hello Olivier! This reminds me of my days when I was touring this part of the world with my parents. They barley spoke English and it was only me trying to translate. We had some fights in the car but above all we had tons of fun enjoying this beautiful park. This is such a strong photo, the road leading into this wide open space, into nature. Wonderful. Have a great night, Barbara.

Beau point de vue Olivier, qui me donnes le goût de m'envoler, tellement la courbe est serré et tout proche du précipice.
Les arbres procurent un beau cadrage naturel.
Je trouve ta présentation originale, qui se démarque des autres photos plus officielle.
Joyeux Noel.

Hello Olivier! This is a very impressive view! Did you take this from the car? Very sharp with very nice colors and lighting. I simply love the way how you showed us the real view when driving to the place. This is unique view from the usual shot of the park. Yosemite is one of the places I really wanted to visit but hadn't had the time when I was there. TFS! rgds.

Hi Olivier,
I think includint the road curve was excellent choice in this case. Curve is tight and the land just seem to disappear in front. The two trees working as a sort of gate frame the scene nicely.
And there's really impressive cliff right in front.
