Photographer’s Note
A photo from the first Vancouver TE Meet. Thanks to Dan (danielwalsh) for organizing the meet. It was great to meet John (john_c), Paul (PJE), Andrew (Boots) and Alvin (Cormac).
You can look forward to their fantastic photos over the next few days (this is but a meager offering).

Hello Don, I really like the reflections here. I think it quite appropriate that you've overexposed your sunlight at the city level. It really adds a nice mood to the photo.

Hi Don. I put your photo into the Group Theme for you.. Nice capture here. I just want to say it was a real pleasure to meet you and hope to touch base in a photo shoot again soon. Now to your photo...
Composition wise I like this setting with the pylons adding character to the frame.
I am not sure what program you are using for post processing, but I think you could have sharpened your photo a little more just before you resize to the 200KB limit. Sorry for being picky here. In the back of my mind I am thinking that if I get too critical on your photos you just may pack a few needles in your camera case when you come to the valley for a photo shoot! Cheers Don!

Hi Donald
Well, this is no easy solution to this kind of situation.
One that comes to mind is the use of a NDgrad filter, very useful when you get an horizontal horizon. In your case,I think that HDR will be a solution,as I have seen piece of art using it.
Anyway,in this case, the overexposure gives an intensitymore life to a good settings.I always found Vancouver's port very crowded.
Have a good week

Great shot Don! I couldn't figure out how to shoot these pilings, but this worked very well - concentrating on the water and letting the sky go. I'm amazed at the detail in the buildings considering the brightness of the sky. Well done!

Hi Donald,
I discovered your photo (and gallery) following Alvin's note, nice to hear you guys had fun together ! I see you posted the same spot as Alvin did, the warm glow of this moment is nicely present and yes you did preserve details on the buildings and boats, however the overexposure on the background clouds is a bit too intense and could be decreased adjusting the highlights in a RAW processing software (where you can adjust highlights and shadows separately), of course this assumes this photo was taken in RAW...
Have a nice day,
JEan-Yves

Hi Don,
A pleasure meeting you today at the TE meet. You did a good job with the exposure on this one, with fine reflections. The pilings provide good graphism here. Well captured. All the best...later.
