Photographer’s Note

The Triumfalnaya Plojadi in the center of the city. The monument is dedicated to Vladimir Mayakovsky who was a futuristis poet in the early USSR (the beginning of the 20th century). Hotel Pekin is situated in the background.

This is an outstanding photo, you have captured the "blue hour" perfectly in this photo. The blend between the natural lighting and the artificial lighting is excellent.
The colors and balance in this photo is outstanding.

Hello Iaroslav,

You've produced another superb early envening scene in Moscow in this photo, "Triumfalaya Plojadi. Once, a very long time ago, we were in Moscow, but missed the monument of Mayakovsky, whom I had heard of. It looks quite cold, but by Mid-November Moscow does begin its descent into the deep freeze. The compostion is excellent, as usual, and so is the exposure. "Warm regards" from Virginia, where it was 18°C, but then, we will eventulally hit -5 °C in 4-5 weeks.

Hi Iaroslav,

nice shot of a "moscovie vyechera" (sorry if this is completely wrong but I studied Russian at school and I remember singing this song about Moscow Evenings very clearly - although I did not get very high grades in Russian).

Hi Iaroslav,
This one screams Communism to me... I think it's not just the architecture, but also this proud "guy" (who is it... Lenin? Stalin? Marx? :))) OH!!! I would have never guessed, it was some futuristic poet!!! But still, I bet you it was futuristic in the 60s or 70s :) Now he's aged quite a bit in the style of this statue. It is such a contrast to that wild model from your previous picture... I still feel like going to Russia looking at your pics... Colors and light are so beautifully sharp...

Perfect lighting and great work with the exposure to obtain this good result in your composition. The image has great quality and is very agreeable at sight. The setting putting off-centre the building and the statue is very good, and the lights and the colors give a great beauty to the whole set.
