Photographer’s Note
The Secovlje salt-pans are particulary exceptional from the ornithological point of view, for the birds have virtually ideal living conditions there due to the warm climate and abundance of food in the basins. More than 200 species have been recorded in this area; some 80 of them breed here permanently or periodically. In the spring and autumn months large flocks of migrators rest in the pans, while many order birds spend the entire winter in there. Among the rare breeders in view of the number of pairs are the Black-winged Stilt (Himantopus himantopus), Yellow-legged Gull (Larus cachinnans), Kentish Plover (Charadrius alexandrinus), Common Tern (Sterna birundo) and Litlle Tern (Sterna albifrons). The Secovlje salt-pans are very interesting also in the winter, when numerous gulls, ducks, geese, stints (Calidrie sp.), shanks and sanpipers (Tringa sp.) dwell here, as well as some birds of prey, particularly harriers (Circus sp.). The most common as far as egrets and herons are concerned are the Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) - which is the symbol of tehe Secovlje Salt-pans Landscape Park - as well as Grey Heron (Arede cinerea), Purple Heron (Ardea purpurea) and Squacco
Our actor here have been hunting a fish for about 5 minutes, beforehe walked away.
A television equipe from Austria have been following me all over this park:)...and when we got all possible scenes, the on tape, me on memory card, we decidet to go home. on the long way along this big pools, i saw our actor, took out the camera, and start shooting right away, you know, they fly, and they are not a lot familiar with humans..., so, nothing more then 18-55, a zoom and trying to find the perfect aperture...
The television eqiupe kindly rised their hands to say good by, and the next second one of them saw me watchin there. they stopped the car, get the whole equipment out and ready in 10 seconds and had the same privilege like me...five muntes of the tipical bird hunting the fish.
You see, the sun's been going down, the light was perfect...the BG is foggy, but our actor is for an Oscar:))
Hope you'll like it.

Hi Maja ;-)
Wonderful note, i have read it with great joy.
Picture is truly wonderful, fantastic light in the whole landscape. The layers of light works perfectly. and of course the bird is the final touch, but perfect placed inside the frame...beautiful..!!!

I like the layering effect in this Miuky, and the sharpness of the bird and the first ridge of mud is a nice contrast with the softness of your background. Nice warm tones too. Cheers . . . David
