Just escaped the storm Photo

Photographer’s Note

This shot was taken at the very end of a cycling tour through Sicily. I started the day around Gangi, a town in the mountains SE of Cefalù, rode through snow and unpenetrable fog over the Madonie mountains, and sunny, warm weather all the way down the mountains to Cefalù. Shortly after I arrived, I went to sit at my favorite spot, looking back at these houses from the water at sundown, when the most spectacular storm began to roll in over the mountains where I'd just been. I sat, spellbound by the colors and thinking, "Thank goodness I didn't leave Gangi one hour later!"

It's a surprise to find another Becky in Savannah, I know quite a few here in Istanbul. By the way I am very impressed byu this picture of Cefalu showing us dramatic skies and local architecture: I will also add that this is the very best light a photographer can find.

Hi Becky,
You have captured some good atmosphere in this photograph. The housing lit up against the really dark sky give a really impressive contrast. It interests me even more as my family are from Sicily! Good composition.

A beautiful catch! Taken from the old Cefalu docs, right? Interesting you have been in that place just a week after me. I guess, the tide is high, since the water was much lower when I was there. And the storm must be from that cloud that was always pursuing me while exploring Cefalu and the surroundings. I see it has grown quite a bit over that week. :)
