Photographer’s Note

Park Schoenbusch IV. - Beer Garden in Park Schönbusch in November. Til April no beer will be served - so enough place for other activities.

Die Parklandschaft wird unterbrochen durch die Wasserfläche des unteren Sees mit einer Insel, die durch eine Drehbrücke (1802) erreichbar ist, einem vom unteren See nach Süden führenden Kanal und einer Kaskade (1779, verändert 1785). Weitere Bestandteile sind zwei künstliche Berge am unteren See, die durch eine Teufelsbrücke verbunden sind; benachbart der Aussichtsturm (1776-1790). Der obere See ist wegen Wassermangels nicht mehr vorhanden. Einen Blickfang stellt die Rote Brücke (1789/90, 1934 etwas versetzt) am Nordende des Parks dar. Es handelt sich um eine Dreibogenbrücke. Über dem mittleren, etwas größerem Bogen befindet sich eine Reliefplatte mit einem Rankenornament. Die Brüstungen sind an den Enden mit je einer Sphinx geschmückt.

I dislike the tree in the middle of the picture.

Anyway, the sense of calm & peace that the picture transmits is lovely.

Hello Achim,
A beautiful candid shot of this elderly man sitting peacefully smoking his morning pipe and reading his newspaper. Good composition, I like how you have included the lamp post and, in particular, a glimpse of the park on the righthand side. Very good colours and clarity.

Dear Achim
Please do not be offended, but the tree in the middle of the shot is quite distracting. Had you placed it to the left of the frame, it wouldn't have dominated the scene so much. However, the photo is of a good quality as far as the colours and sharpness are concerned and this man certainly does seem engrossed in his newspaper!! I've done a little workshop to balance out the compo a little. I hope that you do not mind.

Very good picture showing us the peaceful moment that the man is having, you captured very well the environment with a good POV, also good lighting and sharpness. Love the way you kept open the right side to show us a little bit of the park.

Hi Achim,
Beautiful composition with beautiful elements to see. The place that you have caught seems to be very calm and with many peace, ideally to read a book or the newspaper sat in one of these tables. A pity that they do not serve beer until April!
The setting is correct, the presence of the seated man gives life to the image, and the lamppost and the trunk of the tree create a vertical division in the picture that give a special graphism to the set. Good lighting and good colors.

It's a shame there's no beer at the moment. It looks like the perfect place to relax after exercise round the park. I can't decide about the tree. Mark's WS has made a better composition, but there is a lot of visual information lost. I do like the autumn colours showing on the right.

Compositionwise this is nice..I am not sure about the tree and think it does not distract too much since there is anyway a divider just behind it. I like the solitary man sitting and the autumn colours on the right. Well done
