Photographer’s Note
One of the crowning landmarks in Dubai's architectural pool, the Burj Al Arab is the only seven star hotel across the globe. Constructed to the shape of a sail, this 321m high hotel sits atop a man made island some 280m offshore. A symbol of pride amongst Emiratis, the of the Burj is embossed into the license plates of all registered cars in the U.A.E.
It was sunset when I was heading back from work and I noticed it was a surprisingly clear evening with beautiful orange tinges colouring the sky... Made my way to the beach near the Burj, and started collecting shots, pre-sunset and post-sunset. Waded in knee deep for some of the shots perpetually looking across my shoulder in case a wave decided to wipe me out! Will post up the rest of the shots in the coming days along with some panoramics.
Post Processing, cropped off unnecessary bits keeping the Burj and waves as focus... colours havn't been touched apart from contrast and brightness tweaks.

les couleurs, la lumière et le choix du sujet (j'ai cru à un voilier sur la vignette) sont tres sympa.
par contre la composition moitié / moitié n'est pas assez dynamique.

I think that for the shot to work, you need to get closer. Here I can't make out any details. The reflection is just too weak to do much for the image itself. Also, some sharpness needed. This is a wonderful subject, so go back and re-shoot.

Very well timed light conditions when the sky and artificial light work together for a short period.
The lines in the sea makes nice leads for the eyes.

WOW, I've heard about it from someone i know in Dubai. The colors are brilliant and the reflection is adding a lot to the shot - it worth the while to wad. Well done Derrick!

Fantastic colors!
I like the way the last light meet the lights of the building, creating a dark but interesting image.
I enjoy you Dubai posts, keep posting Derrick.

Hello Derrick,
Family of mine have been to the top of this great icon, but I am yet to see it for myself. Your image is outstanding, very impressive indeed against the pastel sea and sky. The Burj itself has many interesting colours on it, itself, which help to centre the eye on the subject. The image is crisp and full of good variation. A very impressive night shot here.
