[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Taken at the Borthwick stage of the 2006 Jim Clark Memorial Rally. I think the largest event of it's kind, on closed public roads, in the UK. Great fun to photograph with a lot of local interest and participation.
Probably not the fastest way around this corner but certainly had entertainment value. All ended well, the car regained contact with the ground and got very big in the viewfinder, at which point I ran away.

Great shot--a fleeting instant, for sure. You composed this well, leaving room for the thrown dirt. i like how you can almost make out the expressions of the passengers--just enough to see collected reserve. Thanks!

Dougie, I swear I can hear the driver, FAAARK! Great shot, sharp and well conposed with the dirt flying out to the RHS of the frame. Cheers, Steve

Just superb! Great timing, great details, sharp image - and an amusing note!

Well done all round, nothing to fault.

Hi Dougie,

Great action shot!! For sure a decisive moment! And captured very well, The framing is very nice, I like that you've captured the full blow of flying mud. Great sharpness on the car, really well done! The DOF works fine, enough details in the background, but not to distracting from the main subject.
Simple but effective framing.

Did I mention allready that this is a great action shot? ;)

All the best,
Emiel.

Grande!!! Linda foto...

wow that is a crazy shot. You must have been scared to hell taking it. Well done. It is all amazingly clear and sharp. Superb. I love how the dirt gets thrown around.

Well done for hanging around for getting this decisive shot...thank god for telephoto lenses!

I'm wondering if the car is a little too bright, and that maybe a black and white conversion would make a good alternative with some added contrast. I'd do a workshop, but i'm at work at the moment. I'll have a go later.

Thanks

What a great action shot. Talk about being on the edge. The dirt being kicked up realy adds to the motion effect even though the scene is stopped. Nice work

Hi Dougie. Got clean undies on now?;-) Great photo. You have done well to get everything sharp, in focus and well composed. Excellent!! Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Just brillant. the car is absolutely sharp. well done. great.

Cool shot. The navigator looks remarkably calm to me. Very sharp, well done.

Gary

A fine example of a rally photograph Dougie. It,s that moment you think the car is nearer than you know it is thats a bit unnerving. A great split second capture. Well done,
Regards,
Mark

Great action. Fine diagonals too, both of the car and of the dirt flying.

Agreat shot Dougie ,nicely framed with the dirt flying up and the wee fellas getting worried.superb work .Andy
ps ..thought it was donald racing off to get a few more shots before winter stops him .....

Great capture, you was in the right place and took the shot in the right second (who could image that they would do the corner this way? or all them do this way? I guess this is not usual...). I don't know if you had cut the original or if this is the original shot, but you got a nice composition puting the car at left and the mud flying at right.

Probably my car don't survive this kind of test...

Regards...

Jaed

Hi Dougie,

Incredible capture of the action in the split-second! I love the stream of dirt from the left wheels. You can also see the driver and the navigator were trying to keep their head perpendicular to the ground. Very scary yet funny. I hope you were relatively far away from all the action to be safe!

Wilbur

Wow, great edge of your seat action that you have captured in this split second moment, well 1/2000 when you get technical.
Sharpness is dead on, framed to perfection (whether your intentions or not; as I may have been running for cover), crystal clarity and on and on. Photo is worthy of a spot in a magazine - Great Job!
Brendon

Excellent action shot. I bet one doesn't get the chance to capture this kind of actobaticks at every race. You've framed the picture well with the dirt flying up in an angle directly into the right upper corner. The car seems a slight bit overexposed. Could be my monitor.

Hi Dougie,
Perfect timing and result!Well done my friend.
Thanks for sharing,
George
