Seasons Change Photo

Photographer’s Note

Winter is coming and with it there will be a change of scenery. This composite shows a small point on a small lake taken from close to the same vantage point in summer and in winter. With summer the undergrowth and green deciduous leaves are the most prevalent thing seen. In winter, with these gone, the bare trees, conifers, blue sky and snow are much more apparent. Shooting pictures doesn’t stop in the winter; it starts all over again.

Post processing for this included cropping and fitting these two pictures to the composite, then sharpening of this, for this post.

Where I live there isn't such climatic variation, the seasons are not very well defined, so this is curious to me and I especially liked seeing such a study. Well done how you almost exactly matched the pov

Hi John,
this is one of the good ideas which are not easy to detect in the previews. Never thought of this as a possibility before. You found a beautiful place to show us winter and summer in a close comparison and you were lucky for two days of good light conditions. Good work. TFS

Really great idea and composition. The light is captured very well in both images and teh colours especially in the second are fantatic. Thanks for sharing :)

This is a very good idea, and I'm impressed with the accuracy of your positioning:)
The shots themselves could have done with a little PP just to get some of the grays out of them.
