My School #3 Photo

Photographer’s Note

My school again. I took this picture in the late evening while the cloud was cool. It looked like burning. This the Student Union on campus where students services such as cafeteria, post office, bank, book stores are here. Previous version is not as clear as this one. I did some workshop on it. First i sharpened the image, and then added color saturation to make it more red on the sky. And then I sharpened the sky more. And then I did some contrast to make the building more appareant. And then finally, I framed it. I hope you will like it.

Note: I chose the color of the frame in red and black is because of my school's color standard.

I see you are from Cambodia and are currently going to school in Texas. What a coincidence. My wife and I live in Houston, TX. and wejust got back from a trip to Thailand and Cambodia. We spent 3 days in Siam Reap and had a marvelous time. Ate "amok" with shrimp and chicken for the first time... what a great dish!

Seeing your photo reminds me of a guy I met in Oslo in 1985 who was on the same exchange programme as I. He came from Lubbock.
I like your pov showing the strong lines which draw the eye to the background as well as the way the building is lit. The sky is absolutely stunning.

What I really like about this is the natural lighting of the sunset versus the weird man made glow of the building .. what a contrast. Great image.

Quite extraordinairy Sothy, indeed a burning sky in contrast with the yellow atificial lightening at the house, your work on it makes it a bit like an extraterrestrial unique mood going far beyond reality to bring it in a exceptional colorlight, excellent work and still all details very clear, good to enduce strongly your personal interpretation, a camera is indeed more then a copy-machine, after the shot the interpretation begins where a copy-machine ends.
Well done in an artistic fine way.

It is nice that we see so many photos of your university, sharing your personal views. I prefer this photo because of the great colours and framing. I did some workshop because I think the noise doesn't look very nice. I hope you like it. Thanks for sharing this photo.

Hi Sothy,

Wonderful shot. I like the POV, the dark lines on the floor are a nice guide into the shot, and create depth, aswell as the pillars on the left. Nice lights.
Most wonderful is this sky, beautiful sunset colours, nice warm tones and less noise there, as in the rest of the shot.
I would suggest removing noise on the floor and maybe walls, for example. I see the workshop tried to solve it.
Oh ps. try to get the filesize as close as possible to 200kb, your losing details too, by having this filesize of 107kb.

Again, wonderful sky.

Wonderful photo! There are several great elements, but the first for me is definitely the sky. Your fine-tuning made this sunset fabulous, with the colors growing darker from right to left. Nice POV on the student union building, and the low evening lighting makes the lighting in the winodws stand out, and adds a warm glow to the coloring. Great series on your school!

Your photo deserves its wonderful critiques. Aside from the wonderful cloud, I think the the best thing about the photo is your excellent light management. You have wonderful detail and warm glowing color of the campus you clearly love; yet you managed to avoid blowing out the stunning cloud.

I have never seen such a sky you really brought an incredible picture, because it was shot at the decisive moment. These gorgeous skies tend to disappear quickly. I know that you may have intensified the colors but I like the idea of combining the lit buildinmg with the great sky.

The dreamy sky and the soft glow of the lights have created a lovely evening atmosphere. It looks so cosy that I wanted to crawl on one of those benches and take a nap. It feels soooo good.
