[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is not a busy time of year for these boats so I found them idle in the Parramatta River. The tide and sun were working together for me here. The tide turned them perpendicular to the setting sun to provide a nice bisection of light by the bows.

The Parramatta River is the main fresh water body that flows into Port Jackson (Sydney Harbour). It is a tidal river up to the Charles Street weir in Parramatta, 20 kilometres up stream from Sydney. This river and the harbour support both commercial and recreational boating. This includes everything from kayaks, racing sculls and small sail boats up to the larger sail and motor boats, ferries and large container ships. Oddly enough (and happily for some) it doesn’t include jet skis.

Post processing on this photograph included some lightening of the shadows, darkening of some highlights and very slight tweeking of the levels. The final version was sharpened for posting here.

I finished commenting on another boat photograph and I said that it looked like a post-modernism ,realistic painting with the vivid colors and the superb sharpness. The same can be said for your image. Interesting, isn't it? Your minimalistic and 3D effect looks more real than than the real scene, and I really like this effect. The subject matter is basic, but it is beautiful and fascinating to look at. Wonderful work!
