| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| I asked how much, and totaled it in my head. Now as he hands me the food, the price is double. So I said "keep it, and left". This is common all the time now, cheating, cheating, cheating. I am told, "I am rich, I can afford it". Quality, quantity, and local prices do not figure into their dream of rolling in foreigner's money. We can travel, they see our life on tv, and so we should make them rich like us, that is their thinking. A little foreign money makes them "rich" quick, in their actual (cheap) priced economy. Foreigners want value for their money, they are not the "cash cows to be milked" the newspapers claim us to be. |

Hi Gloria,
Just stop complaining. There are cans of worms and bad apples in every country, yours included...
So, stop generalizing...
You want to visit India as a tourist as you know it is 'cheap' travel for you...
Btw, when are you returning to your country?
I Know I am violating the TE critique norms, but so be it.
I agree with ksvijayb.
How can you complain about them wanting to make a little money off us rich tourists!
We didn't do anything to be born in a rich country, and they didn't do anything to be born in a poor country.
I don't think ksvijayb is violating the rules of TE . Answers with no rating are quite possible; and discussions can be started between members either about the photo or the accompanying note.
Sincerely.
Marie Louise.

Hi Gloria
I didn't see all your photos and notes. But I did read this note and great discussions.
My opinion is that your photo (and note) reports a true situation. So, it's a fine post in Daily Life category. I appreciate it.
Of course, every country has problems (mine, yours, all). I don't mind if anybody reports the problems of my country. I do the same.
About this situation (cheating tourists), it is not good, but it is unfortunately a usual situation all over the world. It happened to me in many places (including my own country, Portugal). In Cape Verde if you are with a local person, speaking the national language, you get better deals with the hawkers.
That's everywhere the same. That's our real world. We can't change it at once. But we can try a little bit. Posting pictures like these, originating discussion, I guess it is a way to try to change things, a little, little bit.
Regards,
Francisco
Ha Ha Ha!!!
Great story tourist didi.
Now I really love to read your stories.
So you want to enjoy Samosas, Mirchi Bardas and then as usual lament for being charged more.
Keep shooting, Keep posting, Keep sharing.
