Photographer’s Note
Living seven years with a still-life photographer in NYC leaves traces.
He taught me a few "dramatic" lights and ways to display the still-life (nature morte). It was high-tide season, and lots of fishes were hanging around the small bay of Etretat and so, many fishermen too. The fishermen look if the "fraye" (thousands of small fishes near the shore) was here today, then they plant one to three cannes à pêche at about one meter on the shore, and they wait, standing up, with the waves dying at their feet. The catch of the day were orfi (there) and maquereau (mackerel). Delicious, when cooked à-la-normande : with salted butter, crême fraîche and câpres, mhhhh, miam-miam.

Although I'm kind of grossed out by dead fish, this is an amazing photo. The sharpness of the fish and the stones is great, with the blurred background. The lighting is excellent.

Interesting image and nice composition. I like the teeth of the needlefish and the selective depth of field

Haha funny work. Did you place them like this ? I bet somebody should have done it. Great great DOF here, works very fine. I like the presence of the sea behind, good diagonal line and depth created by this, but also due to the DOF.
Great sharpness and exposure on the fish and some of the stones at the foreground. Some of the stones have nice colours.
Also like the appearance of the natural arch in the very distance, nice work, really!

Very funny and very impressive... Could come out of an hooro movie or a science-fiction one. Very well done.
