Photographer’s Note

At Tomaree Head in Tomaree National Park there is a lookout at the top of the hill that allows a full 360 degree view of the surrounding water and countryside. To get up here allow yourself a couple of hours for the walk up, viewing and walk back. There is a well maintained path to gain access to the lookout.

The view shown in this panorama is looking north from Tomaree Head across the Port Stephens gap towards Yacaaba Head and Jimmys Beach. The 3 pictures used were taken at about 10:00 AM in April. All were shot with the same exposure to minimize blending problems later.

Post processing on the individual pictures included changes to the saturation, and some cropping to allow for better blending. On the final panorama I did some noise reduction, and blending continued between the 3 pictures with blurring and cloning in the sky region. Lighting was adjusted in the shadows and highlights and there was a little tweeking of the levels. In the final JPEG version I sharpened it a bit.
