kayaking in Patagonia Photo

Photographer’s Note

To the left you see Isla Victoria, lake Nahuel Huapi, Bariloche. The island is a natural reserve, 20km (12 miles) long, with more than 1000 deer population and beautiful species of pine trees. Only one small hotel is allowed to operate on the island (20 rooms). We stayed there 1 week, horse-riding, kayaking, rowing, swimming, mountainbiking, fishing, relaxing, and most of all ENJOYING this magnificent place.
I took the photo from the terrace of the hotel, i may be able to post the terrace as a workshop, and the hotel is placed on a hill on this bay, ~200 steps to/from hotel/beach.
I loved rowing far from the coast and relaxing in the middle of the lake with the occassional jump of a trout (out of the lake and back in) as only distraction... If you look closely you will be able to spot 2 kayaks (1 red and 1 yellow) there...
NO color filters applied, all that blue IS TRUE.
Minor adjustments (re-sizing and cropping) to meet trekearth criteria.
BTW: I´m going again in January 2005...

A very lovely landscape with great colours; you did well to keep the slight distant spirit of the peaks.

Elena, this is a great shot! I like the colors...so cool and relaxing. Your "easy" to look at composition enhances this effect.

Going again next summer; lucky you! This place is magnificent, and you have a terrific PoV. Are you at the hotel, or did you climb a mountain? The weather here looks great and the light is very nice. A pity the kayak wasn't cloer but it is clearly visible and adds a nice splash of bright colour.

A famous italian song says: "To fly in the blue painted of blue" (Volare nel blu dipinto di blu); seeing this wonderful picture I would say: "To swim in the blue painted of blue" but in your note you didn't write "swimming". I have a doubt: is the water too cool all the year?

Simply a magnificent view. I like how the color of the water is almost the same as that of the sky. The depth is amazing as well. I would also suggest that you invest in a poralizing filter for your camera...very useful when shooting landscapes...give nice rich colors and even richer sky rendition. It's a nice tool to have in your camera bag. Excellent work!

Amazing clarity! ... I can almost see the people in the kayaks, which I wish were me! This terrain is very similiar to Vancouver where I am from but you have made me consider a trip ...

Yes, what a beauty. It's a perfect landscape. So beautiful lake, mountains, trees. Everything here is lovely. Deepness is superb. Sensation of freedom and amplitude come to me when I see your photo. Colors and tones are really good here, very well done.

Patagonia ? Alaska ? Nouvelle Zélande ? C'est curieux comme certains espaces naturels se ressemblent parfois terriblement. Beau cadrage, belle netteté... On aimerait découvrir la terrasse de ce fameux hôtel :-)

Siempre observando tus ultimas imagenes, omiti hasta ahora deleitarme con esta imagen de una zona que personalmente adoro. Mis visitas a Bariloche, Junin y San Martin de los Andes, me vienen a la mente al ver esta foto.
La composicion, los colores y el detalle de los minusculos kayaks... inmejorables.

Beautiful photo of a beautiful country. I have been planning my trip to South America since years. I hope I will do it soon. I'd love to see Tierra del Fuego. And a carnival in Brazil, of course :)
