Photographer’s Note
This was taken at Van Patten Woods Forest Preserve. I replaced the sky because it was just a boring white. I'll upload the original as a workshop. Thanks for looking.

Hi Kevin,
Nice shot, good idea but ... a bit too much on Photoshop.
Cheers.

I think the workshop is still very good with the whiter sky. The one above is excellent. The colors and the dark clouds and the tree surrounded by a fine aura looks very good at this time of Halloween. Good balance and use of light to achieve details and colors. Nice work :-)

Very original effect in the tree here. Together with the grey sky and the contrasting green meadow., I like it a lot. Well done.
be back soon.

Hi Kevin,
succesful shot. I like your comception of the framing. Only grass is maybe a little bit too dark. The rast is fine, specially sun as a back light.

Great picture Kevin. I have been working some with replacing boring white skies using photoshop and I have discovered that when you have a very intricate patturn like these tree branches, that by using > select > color range... , and holding down the shift key while clicking on different areas of the sky, you can select all the little areas in between the branches much easier than using the magic wand tool. It's something to play around with anyway.
I tried this with your original tree picture and submitted the result as a workshop. I like the sky you chose to use better than mine, but this gives you some idea about using the color range... option under the select button.

I actually like the original better. You might just want to go B/W or Sepia with it. The composition is really nice.
