Photographer’s Note

This is a simple shot which personally I like a lot, taken along the cliffs of the giant's causeway site. The light was really beautiful and direct, and it made the grass of an unnatural green. I even looked closely at the grass to see if it had been painted or something. The red of the path and of exposed rocks was burning, even from distance.

editing: basic, just some contrast, sharpness and +5 saturation in photoshop.

Giant's Causeway
The Giant's causeway is a strip of hexagon shaped (though some have 4 or 8 sides) basalt columns that are the result of the cooling of a lava eruption 60 million years ago. The geometries are so regular that from acient times it was believed to be the work of men... or giants.
The legend tells, infact, a different story. The path was built by the Irish giant Finn McCool to go to scotland and face the scottish giant Benandonner. Quite interestingly the causeway goes under water and comes out at the scottish island of Staffa, which faces the causeway. The legend explains also the names of many sites of the causeway (the organ, the seat, the boot...).
