Photographer’s Note
We had stopped by a small and very poor village not far from Barahona on the southwest coast of Dominican Republic. There were a few children playing on the beach. Nearby in a pool, flamingos were feeding.
This little girl caught my attention with her steady, determined look, and the pretty pom poms in her hair.

Hi Ellie,
Nice backgroud with the boat included in the picture. But the portrait lacks some point of focus. That's especially because the eyes are in a deep shadow. Usually the viewer is attracted by eyes in the first place, and having them obscure is not a very good idea.

What an interesting picture! I love her pom-poms, and you're right about her determined look. Good colors - I know the light was hard to deal with at this time of day.
