Photographer’s Note
This is a temple in Bankok that I cannot remember the name of. The statue, like many in Thailand, looks like an ancient design, but could have been cast a week ago. Note the repair in the moustache.
The framing was difficult... there was a lamp post right behind the statue's head. Sometimes it seems that the best frames come from the limitations around them.

Hi Andrew,
Even if you didn't have any other options for framing, you chose well! Great perspective and clarity; it's really nice how the eye is drawn from the statue in the foreground up to the top of what I'm assuming is a temple in the near background. A longer note would be helpful. Very nice!

Hello Andrew,
Excellent point of view and composition! The viewers attention is drawn from the face of the statue to the top of the tower. You have utilized the entire frame and it works very well. Nice job!

David...

This temple call Wat Arun. I live in Thailand and I just went to this temple about 2 weeks ago, my first time too! your shot here is very interesting one. you make the statue look so huge. so the statue can protect the temple like the photo name. nice job : )

Hi Andrew, I was searching around people's accounts and TrekLens and found out you had one here on TrekEarth, so I looked in your gallery and especially noticed this. This temple here is Wat Arun (Wat Arunratchawararam), and it is amazing because every single detail and decoration on the temple's surface is made with strategically-arranged and adhered bits of ceramics and china that were used as ballast (extra weight) for cargo ships that would come into Bangkok. I have taken an art history course on southeast Asia and it just blew me away learning about this.
Amazing shot, with excellent sense of scale with the point of view chosen. I really like the play on scale, with the statue looking enormous, when it's actually much smaller than the temple. Beautiful subject, very unique vantage point, love the clean flat blue sky it all pops out from. The bit of the statue that's out-of-focus at the bottom is a little distracting, but I understand this is a somewhat difficult angle to shoot from. Good vertical framing to create balance and a good composition. TFS!
