Photographer’s Note
I saw a group of students practicing Kendo in a building with one side completely open to the outside. Kendo is a Japanese martial art originally practiced by the samurai class to improve swordmanship and instill a sense of discipline.

Very interesting capture.
Maybe using flash in this shot would have been usefull, but still...a very nice shot.

I like the composition of this shot. The DOF works well for me. The blurred vegetation makes an interesting pattern. Really could have used a fill flash or post shot processing. Maybe a bit of crop off the bottom?

I like this composition a lot, but I feel that it's too closely cropped. In particular, I wish there was more head room on top, and I wish I could see the tip of his shinai. However, I very much like the pose and shallow DOF, and the fact that your POV is down near the floor. I'd be interested to see what this shot looks like in B&W. It might take on a more timeless quality.
