Photographer’s Note
This is a photo of the first of 3 sub-alpine lakes on the Roman Nose Scenic Loop Hike near Bonners Ferry, Idaho. I took this photo July 1st and some areas of the trail were still covered with snow (ankle deep) and caught me (and my sandals) by surprise.
The loop trail is a little over a mile in length but has an elevation gain of 500' in less than .5 mile. In addition to the loop trail there is a barrier-free boardwalk along the shore of this lake.
The flower in the foreground is Indian Paint Brush or Prairie-fire. It was a nice break from hiking to lie down by the flowers to take the photo.

Hi Amy,a lovely photo to start your ball rolling. May I make one sugestion please, just on the matter of size. I just had a small fiddle with your little photo and brought it up to 800 x 535 and it has made a difference to how easy it is to read the photo. If you take the long figure on the size and cut it back to the maxallowed 8oo the other figure will change itself. Glad it was you doing that hike not me
