Photographer’s Note
"Y tú?
En qué Crees?
Por qué Luchas?"
THE PLACE
Santa Cruz de la Sierra is the richest city on Bolivia and has about 1,3 million residents.
Santa Cruz is the arriving point for the famous Death Train, and there are lots of tourists passing by this city.
Bolivia is well known as a country with a highly politicized population in a constant search for its political identity.
THE PHOTO
I was trying to get good photos of the church (that can be seen on the back) but failed due to the fact that the plaza in front of the church was being remade. Than I moved to shoot the graffities on those walls, but none of the photos came out good. It was than that I saw this tourist boy running to catch up with his parents. I quickly realized that I had a great opportunity ahead of me. It was great to see the contrast between the static Latin American words of protest and that fast moving European boy. It became obvious to me that this was one those moments that Bresson used to call: Decisive. That scene would be forever lost if it wasn't for my trusty camera...
In the wall you can read (in Spanish, from left to right):
"Only The Nationalism will save our Country,
Not Communists
Not Capitalists
We are Nationalists and Socialists
And you? In what do you believe?
Why do you fight?"

Hi Leandro
It's a very good street photo. Your note is also great and very informing. You've captured the scene very well and I would also like to thank you for the translation of the graffiti.
I just don't liek the fact that the background has much higher contrast than the foreground and thus distracts us from the main subject. I would crop a little bit of the top.
I'm posting my version to the workshop.
Best regards and please feel invited to my little gallery as well.
Pawel
