Photographer’s Note
Balanced Rock has often been called the Eighth Wonder of the World. However that may be, it has certainly been one of the world's most photgraphed rocks (Well, I was not known this fact). Favorite photographs have included those of someone trying to push the rock over or of someone posed in front of the rock, sitting astride a burro or horse.
Balanced Rock did not become a part of the Garden of the Gods Park until the early 1930's. Before that it was private property. During the 1890's a youngster of fourteen named Curt Goerke began taking photographs of visitors to the rock for a quarter of a dollar each. Soon he was making so much money that his father Paul quit his job, learning photography, and bought Balanced Rock and nearby Mushroom Park for $400.
Note: I tried to remove those people form the picture, and couldn't get the way I wanted. If somebody have idea how to take off the people appreciate it.

Hi Vandana,
Very impressive rock in balance. Beautiful colours en nice composition. It's a pity there are always so many tourists sticking near the place but at the same time they give the right scale of the rock in that case. I think the man/woman sitting on the right is a bit crazy :)!Interesting note as well.
Nice job!
Quentin.

Beautiful shot. I've been here before. I love this area. You've captured the colors well. Removing people may be a little tricky--but at least they give a nice perception on how large the rock is.

Vandana,
In first seeing the thumbnail image of "Balanced Rock," I thought that the image blown up would be a Roman building in the Middle East, an architectural vestige of the distant past. It is indeed a wonder of nature, as you describe it. Regards, Bulent

Great shot. Very right and strong colours. Good compostion, by having the rock on the right closing the image over there. The cloud in the sky is a nice addition to the left part. Cloning out the people would be really hard I guess, I think, you would clearly see cloned parts repeated few times. In anyway, if somebody can do it, it will probably be not easy and take a lot of time for a nice result. Especially for the people in front. But indeed, the give a good scale for size comparison.
What a wonder indeed, that it's so balanced and still standing there. It doesn't seem very stable..Maybe a strong earthquake in the future will do the job..
But it's a nice attraction I think, so it should not collapse :)
Good POv, with a piece of road in front.

Hello Vandana,
This is a very nice photo - great composition, with the second rock on the right and the clouds on the left. It is sharp and the colors are vivid. Actually, I rather like the people in the picture (well, maybe not the pink and green shirts, but you could desaturate those), although maybe not quite so many people. But as others have said, they give a good idea of the scale of the rock. Well done!
Regards, Jackie

Hi Vandana
Good shot, great colours and light and sharpness.
The only way to remove the people - come back early in the morning at first light and re-take the photograph!!
Personally I don't mind the people, they give a sense of scale, and the rock itself is in perfect view. Your metering and colours are excellent.
